January 8, 2012 Auction Highlights

A Venetian oil doubled the high estimate, selling for $10,200; selling for $4,320, this midcentury chaise lounge more than quadrupled the estimate; a coastal landscape by Italian artist Nicolai Simbari sold for $4,800; this unique bronze and mica fire screen sold for a surprising $4,080 the day of the sale; bringing $3,360 at auction, an architect’s cabinet sold for more than three times the pre-sale estimate; a large collection of Baccarat stemware also brought an unexpected $3,210 on Sunday afternoon; selling for $5,280, a collection of 5 Lesser Ury etchings brought slightly more than the estimate; a magnificent pair of Chinese chairs sold for $3,120 at auction; a carved marble statue of Venus brought $2,800; this Georgian sterling tea set sold for $2,880 on the day of the auction.

March 27, 2011 Highlights

A rare 19th cent female cigar store Indian sold for $18,800. Two Judaic spice towers brought an exciting $4,700. 1861 Civil War colt .44 pistol sold for a surprising $8,225 on the day of the sale. A decorative gold-toned bracelet with Swiss porcelain plaques went for $3,995 on Sunday. A magnificent Phillip & Kelvin Laverne Michaelangelo tribute coffee table sold for $4,230. A beautiful William Beechy Oil brought $3,995 at auction. A Tiffany leaded glass shade on metal base sold for $4,080. A stunning 18th Century Italian commode brought $3,525 on the day of the sale. A Civil War sold for a $4,935 at the auction.

May 15, 2011 Auction Highlights

One of two Jasper Cropsey oils discovered in a local estate, this rare winter scene was bid up to an amazing $552,000 at auction. The second Cropsey up for auction reached a surprising $288,000 on May 15th. A pair of Asian vases brought $19,200. Selling for $7,800, this 18th Cent. commode exceeded the presale estimate. A 14k Cartier bracelet brought $4,800. An Asian box sold for $3,840 on Sunday. A French vitrine nearly doubled the high estimate, bringing $4,800 on the day of the sale. This John Widdicomb chinoiserie secretary sold for $2,800. A lot of sterling flatware brought $3000 at auction.

One of two Guy C. Wiggins New York winter scenes in the sale, this oil of Trinity Church brought $32,400.00 on Monday night; the other Wiggins sold for surprising $27,600.00. Two Shukhaev portraits sold for an astonishing $19,200.00. A beautiful Albert E. Harnisch bronze of infant Mercury sold for $10,800.00 at auction. An assorted lot of Asian items and one European piece brought $9,000.00. This magnificent 10-arm chandelier brought $4,3200.00 the night of the sale. A marbletop end table sold for $1,560.00 on Monday night. A pair of handcrafted Martino Gamper chairs brought $3,360.00 on June 13th. Bringing $2,160.00 at auction, this Venetian églomisé coffee table exceeded the presale estimate. This Mexican sterling tea set sold for $6,600.00 at auction.

Two Chinese porcelain plaques sold for $11,400; a sterling and 24k gold roadster by Cartier brought much more than expected selling for $9,000; a magnificent armoire realized $7,200; bringing at $7,200 on Sunday, a marquise diamond sold just over the high end of the estimate; a Flora Danica porcelain service sold for six times the low-end estimate, realizing $6,000 at the sale; a pair of Silas Seandel tables brought $5,760; this continental ebonized and bronze mounted clock sold for $5,520; Bringing $5,280, an Adler sterling flatware set fell right within the estimate; a lot of 7 hunting prints by assorted artists brought $3,480; this beautifully executed Faulkner watercolor brought more than expected at $1,800.
